Liverpool target Jude Bellingham could end up staying at Borussia Dortmund for another season
According to the Sunday Times journalist Jonathan Northcroft (h/t Liverpool Echo), Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham could end up staying at the German club for another season after the drop of interest from Liverpool for the player.
Bellingham was widely speculated to be one of the primary targets for Liverpool to upgrade their midfield options in the summer transfer window.
However, the price demanded by Dortmund for the player was too high and Liverpool had to pull out of the race to sign the talented young prodigy.
It is claimed that Bellingham could yet end up staying one more year at Dortmund as he does not want to change clubs just due to the pressure surrounding his transfer.
“It is understood that he would rather stay at Dortmund and reassess in 2024 than be pushed towards a move that’s not absolutely right for him”
It would come as a pleasing news to Liverpool supporters as many had given up hope on signing the midfielder once the club dropped their interest due to the high price tag.
On the other hand, our direct rivals Manchester United and Manchester City are still in the race to sign the player and if the claims of him staying another year in Germany are true, it provides us with a wonderful opportunity to try again next year.
It would also be a better proposal from our side with no UEFA Champions League football to be offered to potential signings this summer but things could change post the upcoming season.

For that to happen, we need to still sign top-quality players in a replenished squad and then aim to sign talents such as Bellingham a year after, albeit he does not make a move before.
Hopefully, the situation as characterized above does happen and we see ourselves in a position to land the talented midfielder in the future.
