Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate is super motivated for upcoming season and looking forward to the challenges ahead
Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate, while speaking to Liverpool Echo, is super confident that the Reds will put the disappointing season behind and have a successful season ahead.
It has been surprising for everyone to see Liverpool struggling in the manner that it did this season and are on course to miss out on UEFA Champions League qualification.
This comes a season after they were fighting for an unprecedented quadruple last season to which they fell short right at the very end.
It was a wake up call for all involved with Liverpool that it is time to shake things up and Konate believes that the upcoming season will be different to the one witnessed this time around.
“It will be just the opposite. It will be almost an even bigger motivation – super motivated.
Let’s say we are unfortunate not to quite make it into the top four and get in the Champions League (for next season), that still leaves us with two massive things to go for – the league and the Europa League which we might be taking part in.
We’ve still got the same mentality and desire that Liverpool has had for the last five years. But teams do evolve, don’t they?”
It is definitely refreshing to see a player speak openly about the current struggles and also being motivated for the challenges ahead.
Jurgen Klopp has done very well to recruit not just players with huge talent but also big personalities who are not willing to shy away from a tough task.
It would be instrumental in us getting back to the days of domination and although it is true that the race run by a number of key players in Klopp’s side of the past is getting over, the foundations are laid out for a smooth transition.
In spite of us missing out on Champions League football, the aura of playing at Anfield and for a renowned manager such as Klopp are two very attractive reasons for any professional footballer.
