Liverpool eye Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer after failed Manchester United move
Liverpool are said to be considering a free transfer for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in the summer, as per Ignazio Genuardi (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Naby Keita, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain and James Milner could all leave as free agents at the end of the season considering their contracts are expiring in just over two months (Transfermarkt).
If anyone remembers, Arthur Melo signed for the Reds on a loan move from Juventus last summer. The Brazilian would return to the Allianz Stadium at the end of the campaign as well.
Moreover, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho Tavares have been subpar while Thiago Alcantara, as magnificent as he is on and off the ball, has been blighted with injury issues. Hence, Liverpool can’t make just one or two signings.
Makes sense
They will need more than that. And they cannot spend lavishly on every single one of them. Signing a player like Rabiot would be ideal because not only is he an experienced player, and he could also come as a free agent.
The 28-year-old has excelled in the past at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Juve and the France national team. He is a proper central midfielder who can contribute on both ends of the pitch.
The space freed up on the wage bill by the free agents leaving can then be filled up by a couple of free transfers, including that of Rabiot. He failed to join Manchester United last summer but that will only be an additional thing for us to rub in the faces of the Red Devils once he comes here.
It is always an added pleasure seeing a player who could have joined Manchester United come to Liverpool and succeed. Hopefully, Rabiot, who has 10 goals (an unimaginable tally if you’re a midfielder at LFC) in 37 games across competitions this season, doesn’t pen a new deal with Juve.

Like us, they are set to miss out on UEFA Champions League football next season unless a miracle happens. It would be brilliant if Rabiot came to Anfield and became part of Jurgen Klopp’s second great Liverpool team.
