Liverpool not the only club eyeing a move for Ajax Amsterdam defender Jurrien Timber
According to HITC (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are not the only club interested in signing Ajax and Dutch defender Jurrien Timber.
Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and Marseille are all in pursuit of the Netherlands international.
The report also reveals that the player has asked his representatives to explore the interested suitors and talk to them about a possible move in the coming summer window.
The 21-year-old is a versatile defender who can play both as a centre-back and a right-back. He is comfortable as a former in a three or a two-man central defence.
Timber has been at Ajax since 2014 when he was a youth player. He made his senior debut there during the 2019/20 season and has been a regular feature for them since the start of the 2020/21 campaign.
A few days ago, Melissa Reddy of Sky Sports updated us on the fact that Liverpool are looking to make a defensive reinforcement along with the midfield reshuffle.
Timber being a versatile player could fill in multiple options for the Reds. He is technically strong on the ball, reads the game well and loves a physical duel or two.
Having seen Trent Alexander-Arnold doing well in the hybrid role, Jurgen Klopp could do with a right-sided defender like the Dutchman in his squad.
However, looking at the list of clubs interested in the 21-year-old, feels like it won’t be easy for Liverpool to crack a deal unless the player is convinced that he will come to Anfield.

The Reds do have a Dutch influence in Cody Gakpo and Virgil van Dijk. Can they inspire Timber to reject any other move and sign for Liverpool? It is definitely not beyond the realms of possibility.
