Liverpool to make an offer for Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella
According to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews (h/t ECHO), Liverpool could make an offer for Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella. Following the Reds’ decision to end their pursuit of Jude Bellingham, the Italian midfielder has emerged as one of the top targets for the Reds.
The Reds could offer the Nerazzurri as much as €85 million to try and sign the 26-year-old this summer. This would be a significant investment for Liverpool, but Barella’s talent and potential could make him a valuable addition to their midfield.
Barella is a talented midfielder who has won several titles with Inter Milan. The 26-year-old has won the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia, and the Supercoppa Italiana on two occasions with the club. He is also an essential player for the Italian national team, having played a significant role in their Euro 2020 triumph.
Liverpool’s interest in Barella comes as no surprise, given his talent and potential. The Italian midfielder has been a standout performer for Inter Milan over the past few seasons, and his performances have not gone unnoticed by several top European clubs.
Barella inching closer to Merseyside?
If Liverpool manages to sign Barella, it would be a significant boost to their midfield. The Italian is a box-to-box midfielder who is known for his energy, work rate, and technical ability. He can also play in a variety of positions in midfield, making him a versatile addition to Liverpool’s squad and would be really handy for Jurgen Klopp.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold finding for himself a good role as an inverted full-back, Barella’s defensive capabilities could certainly fit in exceptionally well at Liverpool and the player could create a good partnership with Trent and Mohamed Salah on the right side of the Reds’ attack.
Liverpool’s interest in Barella could also be seen as a sign that they are looking to rebuild their midfield for the long term. With Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set to leave, and James Milner’s future uncertain, Liverpool need to bring in fresh talent to bolster their midfield options.
The midfielder is a key player for Inter, and the Italian club won’t let him go easily. However, their financial troubles off the field, plus the probability of them not qualifying for the UCL could make things much easier for Liverpool when it comes to their pursuit of Barella.
