Liverpool are among the clubs interested in Samuel Chukwueze whose price is revealed
According to Ruben Uria of Goal (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are among the few clubs who are interested in Villarreal attacker Samuel Chukwueze.
Apart from the Reds, Everton, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid and European champions Real Madrid are interested in the 23-year-old. Not sure about Everton though, as they are in danger of going down to the Championship after their latest defeat to Newcastle United.
The report reveals that any club wanting to sign Chukwueze may have to splash something in the region of £71m. His current contract at Villarreal expires next summer (Transfermarkt).
The Nigerian international, who is preferably a left-footed right-winger, can operate anywhere across the forward line.
He has been in great form for the Spanish side this season, scoring 13 goals and assisting 11 in 43 appearances in all competitions. We all remember his goal against Bayern Munich last season that took Villarreal to the semi-final of the Champions League.
While all that is good, Liverpool should not focus on spending big money on another attacker this season. The club has spent a lot in getting Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo in the previous three transfer windows respectively.
Jurgen Klopp and his staff must figure out the players they can sign to improve the struggling midfield. If that is sorted out this summer, the team will have a different complexion to it next season.
Having pulled out of the Jude Bellingham transfer due to the money involved, the pressure is on the recruitment department to deliver. Jamie Carragher talked about having to restore some of the lost faith after the Bellingham debacle.

With all due respect to Chukwueze, who is a great young talent, Liverpool do not need him right now. If he goes to any other club this summer, good luck to him!
