Liverpool target Nicolo Barella has no intention of leaving Inter Milan
Amid rumours of a summer move to Liverpool, Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella is not considering moving away from his current club. The 26-year-old found himself in the middle of many reports surrounding a move to Merseyside, but he is not showing any signs of wanting to move from Inter.
According to Sportsmediaset via FC Inter News via ECHO. Following the disappointment of dropping out of the Jude Bellingham race, it now seems like the Reds would now have to look for alternatives to their alternative as well.
With Barella not showing any intentions to leave, and a long-term contract until 2026 (Transfermarkt) already locked in and in place for the Italian international, it is probably safe to say that he would remain at the Nerazzurri next season and potentially beyond too.
While Liverpool are ready to pay £75m and even if we hypothetically consider the fact that Inter would take this money with open arms, it is eventually only up to Barella whether or not he wants to join us.
The Reds could miss out on Barella
A number of midfielders leave Liverpool this summer, and the Reds certainly need to reinforce the middle of the park. The available options are ageing, and consistency is something that has been lacking this season and we need to tick both of those boxes heading into the next season.
The club points table-wise, is certainly not where we would ideally want to be, but there is still a chance for a top-four finish which could strengthen our chances of bringing in a robust European-level midfielder into the club.
While missing out on Barella could be a huge jolt to Liverpool’s summer plans, there are obviously plenty of other midfielders who could suit our plans as well.
Plus who knows, Jurgen Klopp might pick any player from anywhere and make him world-class. But do we have the time and patience for that?
