Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in Rennes star Lovro Majer

According to The Daily Mail, Premier League giants Liverpool and Arsenal are both keeping tabs on Rennes midfielder Lovro Majer

The 25-year-old arrived in Ligue 1 from Dinamo Zagreb and has settled into life in France well. A central midfielder, he is primarily an attacking-minded player capable of kickstarting attacks.

Majer’s strengths lie in making through balls and crafting opportunities. His passing ability is as good as his effectiveness on set pieces. He brings much to the table and will thrive in the right system.

The Croatian international is open to a new challenge next summer and Premier League could be his next destination. He impressed one and all during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, scoring against Canada.

Majer should be available for around £30m, a snip in today’s market. While Liverpool does need additions in the middle of the park, it is debatable if he is what the Reds seek. He is no Luka Modric to say the least.

The Croatian ace struggles to compete aerially and in the absence of such a player in our ranks, Liverpool could struggle to win the first ball. Majer would be a solid addition as a backup but it is questionable if he has the ability to become a game-changing starter for the Reds.

Liverpool are linked with several players ahead of the summer. Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch, Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Alexis Mac Allister to name a few.

It promises to be a busy summer at Anfield and Liverpool cannot gamble by bringing in players who don’t fit the system. It is a hard pass on Majer from us.

The Croatian will likely have more suitors from England apart from Arsenal and Liverpool. As long as he continues to impress, there should be no shortage of takers.
