Liverpool see themselves linked again with Florian Neuhaus
The Reds have seen themselves linked with a number of midfielders in recent transfer windows, but are yet to replace Gini Wijnaldum who left Liverpool back in 2021. However, the upcoming transfer window presents Liverpool with the opportunity to get in a player with similar attributes as Wijnaldum, someone like Florian Neuhaus.
Neuhaus sees himself linked with a move to the Reds again. He could be the first German to sign for Liverpool in the Jurgen Klopp era since the signing of Loris Karius. 90Min via liverpool.com discuss the Merseysiders’ interest in the 26-year-old.
Florian Neuhaus, a Monchengladbach regular at the moment, has two goals in 22 appearances across all competitions this season. With his contract at Die Fohlen ending in 2024 (Transfermarkt), this summer window could give the club a chance to cash in a sizeable amount for their central midfielder.
Speaking of how he could properly replicate the role Gini played at the Reds, the engine on Neuhaus and his versatility to fill in any of the midfield roles makes him a proper like-to-like replacement for Wijnaldum.
Neuhaus finally to the Reds?
While Neuhaus’ injury record is certainly not as impressive as Gini’s, the abilities of the player surely outweigh the negatives.
Moreover, he is only 26 and is in the prime of his playing days, and could want to move to a bigger club, like Liverpool. He has a decent amount of experience in the Bundesliga and could certainly help out the Reds.
£35m for him certainly does not seem a lot, given the inflation of the current market. Hopefully, the Reds can finish in a top-four spot at the end of this season and use their pull to get the finest midfield talents to Anfield over the summer window.
The Reds have struggled with injuries in recent seasons, particularly in midfield, and they are keen to avoid a repeat of those issues in the coming campaign. Neuhaus is a top talent with a bright future ahead of him, and he would undoubtedly strengthen Liverpool’s squad if he were to join the club.
