Liverpool are eyeing up a potential Alexis Mac Allister alternative with a move for Orhan Kokcu
As per Football Transfers (h/t Mirror Live), Liverpool are eyeing a move for Feyenoord midfielder Orhan Kokcu as a potential alternative to Alexis Mac Allister.
The Reds have been heavily linked with Mac Allister over the last few weeks, but there are other Premier League clubs interested in the Argentine as well.
So, while Jurgen Klopp and his staff might be looking to get the Brighton man’s move over the line, they are keeping Kokcu as an alternative.
The Turkish international, who recently won the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord, is a versatile central midfielder who can play as a number 10, just like Mac Allister.
The 22-year-old played 44 games in all competitions for the Dutch side this season, scoring 12 goals and assisting five (Transfermarkt).
The Feyenoord youth product has a contract with the Dutch champions until the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt). He is good at passing, taking set-pieces, attempting long-range shots and creating chances with through balls from deeper midfield positions.
All the attributes we are reading and watching about Kokcu are similar to Mac Allister. Hence, if Liverpool do miss a chance to sign the latter, having the former as an alternative is not a bad option by any means.
Moreover, Turkish players are generally great at giving their all for the team and being combative in duels and not backing off physical battles. Kokcu has the running ability in him to make an impact between both boxes.

The 22-year-old can be a good addition to the Liverpool squad if need be. The Reds must nail the summer transfer window if they are to get back to challenging for the league next season. Getting their midfield and defensive additions right would be key to that.
