According to the Record, Liverpool scouts are watching talented midfielder Manuel Ugarte amidst links that the club want to sign the Sporting Lisbon star in the summer.

Since his arrival in Lisbon during the summer of 2021, Ugarte has quickly established himself as one of the most promising young midfield talents in European football. His exceptional displays throughout the season, featuring in 46 matches across various competitions.

Significantly, he has showcased his immense potential on the grandest stages by delivering standout performances in both the Champions League and Europa League. This demonstrates his capability to excel at the highest level of competition.

Liverpool are believed to be the frontrunners for Manuel Ugarte‘s signature, although Aston Villa and Chelsea are also keeping a close eye on his situation. His release clause is rumoured to be around €60m.

The Reds have a history of successfully nurturing young talents and integrating them into their system, making them an attractive destination for aspiring players. Considering the midfield situation here, this makes sense.

That Liverpool need midfield reinforcements is no secret. The likes of James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex-Oxdale Chamberlain have been let go and will leave the club in the summer on a free transfer.

The Reds need a huge midfield revamp in the summer. Whilst Manchester City and Pep Guardiola have lifted their fifth Premier League title in six years, Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp will be motivated to prove a point next season.

Ugarte is a player who’d really suit Liverpool. He is young, full of energy and creativity and is just the kind of player that Jurgen Klopp loves to coach. The player would also develop a lot under the German manager.
