Liverpool make an enquiry for Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard
Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard is of transfer interest for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. Following a new system of play with Trent Alexander-Arnold in a midfield hybrid role, the need for a right-back has got real at the club.
According to the German publication Kicker via ECHO, Liverpool have made an enquiry about the 2018 World Cup winner. Pavard’s contract with the Bundesliga giants expires in the summer of 2024 (Transfermarkt).
Someone like Pavard will help Liverpool kill two birds with one stone as he can play his natural role of an RB and put in a shift as centre-back. Attributes similar to that of Joe Gomez, but with skills much greater.
From Bayern’s perspective, the emergence of Noussair Mazraoui and Dayot Upamecano means there is little room to accommodate Pavard. Given there he is in the final year of his deal, Liverpool could obviously negotiate a smart deal for Pavard.
Another French defender for the Reds?
From a tactical perspective, as well as a scouting perspective, the purchase of Pavard could be like striking gold for Liverpool. Having a player who can play two roles in defence certainly makes the Reds’ jobs much easier and they could focus on getting on board midfielders.
The Reds’ interest signifies Liverpool’s ambition to maintain their high standards and strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Pavard’s track record of success, coupled with his versatility, aligns with Liverpool’s philosophy and style of play under Jurgen Klopp.
As the summer transfer window unfolds, supporters would eagerly await updates on Pavard’s potential move. Liverpool’s interest adds an intriguing twist to the situation, and the outcome will depend on negotiations between the clubs and Pavard’s personal aspirations.
