Jurgen Klopp provides injury update on Liverpool star Stefan Bajcetic
One of the most exciting things for Liverpool after the World Cup break in an otherwise poor string of results for the club was the form of Stefan Bajcetic. The player, who made his Premier League debut against Bournemouth earlier in the season was in fine form until his abductor muscle tear in March.
Given the intensity of play the 18-year-old stood subject to so early in his career with the Reds, the injury was almost certain and there were calls for proper Workload Management, but it got too late maybe, and hence, the Reds did not have the luxury of his services in the last few months of the season.
19 appearances across all competitions this season, Stefan Bajcetic scored his debut Premier League goal against Aston Villa in December, and that accounts for his G/A tally in his debut league season.
Here is what Klopp had to say on Bajcetic and his injury situation via Liverpool ECHO:
“It’s a different injury, obviously, but we had to be super-careful with Curtis [Jones]. It’s annoying for the player, really annoying, because you can train two days and then you need two days off, but you feel great, but it’s just [so you] don’t take any risk.”
When could Stefan return for the Reds?
Liverpool were really unfortunate to miss out on his services during a period where we could have done with Bajcetic’s presence in the middle of the park. The trust that Klopp has shown in him is immense, given his growing stature as a footballer, and he’s kept up to the trust the gaffer has shown in him.
However, the injury situation makes it tough for either party, and hopefully, this doesn’t hamper the Spaniard from going through a proper pre-season before the next season begins, and that would be absolutely vital for Liverpool.
Liverpool’s participation in the UEFA Europa League next season would mean that the youngsters, including Bajcetic could stand given a lot of opportunities and chances.
Jurgen Klopp doesn’t shy away from providing young players a chance within the first team, and that would continue to be the trend for next season as well.

Six weeks, or until the next assessment is the estimated time frame for Bajcetic’s return to regular action. Hopefully, the break in the season gives him maximum recovery time and he starts where he left off for Liverpool.
