Curtis Jones breaks 23-year-old Liverpool record following Southampton start

At just 22 years and 118 days old, Curtis Jones has etched his name in Liverpool FC’s history books as the youngest English midfielder to start 11 or more consecutive games for the club in all competitions since the legendary Steven Gerrard achieved the same feat back in February 2000. (h/ ECHO)

Jones’s remarkable achievement highlights the immense faith placed in him by Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff.

In recent matches, Curtis Jones has truly come into his own, showcasing his immense talent and adaptability. The change in tactics, with Liverpool deploying inverted full-backs, has played a significant role in his positive form.

Throughout these games, Jones has been nothing short of impressive. His technical ability, vision, and work rate have been on full display, winning over fans and pundits alike. It is refreshing to see him perform like this given he was subject to a lot of criticism after inconsistencies and unavailability due to various injury issues.

Jones for the Reds

The transition from promising youngster to regular starter is often a delicate process, but Jones has embraced the responsibility and thrived under the pressure. With injuries plaguing the team this season, Jones has stepped up admirably, solidifying his place in the starting lineup, at least for this season.

With three Premier League goals this season, he is the Reds’ highest-scoring midfielder. His emergence as a key contributor adds another dimension to the team’s attack. The faith shown in Jones by Klopp and his teammates is a testament to his talent and potential.

Looking ahead, Jones’s journey is an exciting one to follow. As he continues to mature and gain more experience, Liverpool fans can anticipate even more impactful performances from the young midfielder.

With his versatility and determination, Jones has the potential to become a mainstay in Liverpool’s midfield for years to come. Next season though, Jones will have to fight for a place given how it is almost certain that the Reds will get on board midfield reinforcements.
