As per BBC, Brighton and Hove Albion have given permission for Alexis Mac Allister to have a medical with Liverpool ahead of the proposed move.
Paul Joyce of the Times has revealed that the Reds hope to complete Mac Allister’s signature by this week. The player wants to sign the contract before joining the national team on June 10. He has rejected a potential offer from Erik ten Hag and Manchester United (legend!).
The 24-year-old signed a new deal with Brighton last October, but there was an anticipation that he will leave the Seagulls this summer.
Liverpool legend John Barnes feels Mac Allister would walk into the Reds XI from the start of next season. It is no surprise given how good the player is and how badly this team needed additions in the midfield department.
The Argentine international is a versatile midfielder who can play anywhere across the central regions of the field. Jurgen Klopp may play him as one of the number eights in a 4-3-3 system.
The 24-year-old is a technically solid player who can impact games in both boxes. He can add goals and assists from midfield along with his exceptional work rate off the ball.
But, we all know that Liverpool need more than a Mac Allister to bolster their midfield department. Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that the club is in contact with the agents of Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone ahead of a potential offer.
Let’s hope that the Reds make the right moves in the coming days and weeks. After all the work Klopp has done in the last six years, he deserves to get the necessary backing after an underwhelming season.
