Everton striker Neal Maupay drops “neighbours” hint when talking about Liverpool target Khephren Thuram
Everton striker Neal Maupay dropped a major hint that Liverpool target and fellow Frenchman Khephren Thuram could be his neighbour soon.
Liverpool are actively interested in signing Lillian Thuram’s son in the summer transfer window. Fabrizio Romano tweeted that the club has held talks with the player’s agent this week before a potential deal is offered.
Thuram is a bright young midfielder who has done well for his current club Nice. He will be representing France in the U21 European Championship starting in a couple of weeks’ time.
Here’s what the Everton player Neal Maupay said when asked about the 22-year-old (h/t GymTonic, via Liverpool Echo):
“He’s a great player. We could be neighbours soon.”
Before going too far ahead, Liverpool are currently focusing on completing the deal to sign Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentine is undergoing medical and will sign the deal this week before joining the national team camp.
The Reds are also in the race to sign Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga, while contact with Manu Kone’s agent has been made.
Things have sped up since the start of this month, which shows how insistent the club is to make the signings as early as possible. If they are done before the start of the pre-season, it would be great for Jurgen Klopp as he can integrate the new players in a slightly better way compared to when someone arrives late in the window.

Coming back to Thuram, he is a physically and technically strong box-to-box midfielder who can be an ideal fit in the Liverpool midfield. He is good on the ball, has the pace to help the team in defensive transition, is aerially very good and can play in multiple positions. The 22-year-old, in short, is a high-intensity player. The Reds should get him!
