Liverpool could join the Moises Caicedo transfer race as Arsenal and Chelsea plot moves
According to the Telegraph (subscription required), Liverpool could join the race to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo amidst Arsenal and Chelsea interest.
The report reveals that the Seagulls could demand more than £70m for the Ecuador international. Liverpool may only join the race if the transfer fee is in their range. Manchester United are also plotting a move.
Although Arsenal want to sign Caicedo, their priority is to get West Ham United captain Declan Rice. Chelsea, on the other hand, may include Levi Colwill in the deal to lower the transfer fee before signing the Ecuadorian.
Liverpool are close to signing Caicedo’s Brighton teammate Alexis Mac Allister. The deal is set to be completed this week with the Argentine undergoing medical. Mac Allister hopefully becomes one of the few midfielders the Reds sign this summer.
If the Seagulls stick to their price tag, then it might be difficult to afford the signature of Caicedo. As good a player as the 21-year-old is, Liverpool are not a club with a bottomless pit. There is a reason why they pulled out of the race to sign long-term target Jude Bellingham.
But, a lot can happen in football, especially during transfer windows. So, let’s not rule this one out until the player has moved to his next destination in the coming days or weeks.
The Reds are in contact with the agents of Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone with a transfer offer potentially on the cards. Jurgen Klopp might like the way both these French midfielders play.
