Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch wants Declan Rice at Anfield

Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has expressed his enthusiasm for the potential signing of West Ham star Declan Rice by his former club this summer. According to Football.London, Arsenal have prioritised a move for the 24-year-old, who is valued at £100m+ by the Hammers.

Crouch, in an interview with Paddy Power via The Mirror, mentioned that while he acknowledges the recent acquisition of Alexis Mac Allister as a good signing for Liverpool, he believes the fans will be eager for further reinforcements in defence and midfield and also spoke of Declan Rice as a potentially “great signing” for the Reds.

“I know he’s being linked elsewhere but I’d absolutely love to see Declan Rice come in (into Liverpool) as well. He’s a class act and I think he could go to any club and be a great signing for them. It probably won’t be Liverpool as he’s going to be very expensive, but it would be a great addition.”

While Crouch acknowledges that Rice’s price tag may make a move to Liverpool unlikely, he would love to see the Englishman at Anfield, considering him a valuable addition to the team as we surely need a defensive midfielder who can give Fabinho and the others a run for their money.

The sentiments expressed by Crouch highlight the general consensus among Liverpool fans and pundits alike. Rice’s performances for West Ham have earned him widespread acclaim, and his versatility in midfield and his ability to play centre-back at times make him an attractive prospect for several top clubs.

Do Liverpool have the means to pull Rice?

However, it is worth noting that Rice’s potential transfer could be a costly affair. West Ham would be reluctant to part ways with their prized asset without a substantial offer, and competition from other clubs vying for his signature could drive up the price even further.

While a potential move for Rice may seem challenging, Liverpool’s ability to attract top talents cannot remain overlooked by any means. However, let’s face it, even with our strength when it comes to doing business, Rice is too heavy for FSG’s pockets.

As the summer transfer window unfolds, Liverpool fans will be eager to see if the club can make a marquee signing like Declan Rice.

While the financial aspects may pose a significant obstacle, the desire for defensive reinforcements and a quality midfielder aligns with Crouch’s sentiments.
