Liverpool target and Juventus star Federico Chiesa available at £38m
Liverpool FC’s summer transfer plans have taken an exciting turn as they now see themselves again linked with a move for Italy winger Federico Chiesa over the summer transfer window.
According to Corriere dello Sport via ECHO, the Reds could face competition for his signature, with Bayern Munich and Newcastle United also sharing an interest in the Juventus forward.
Federico Chiesa and his potential arrival at Anfield raises questions about the club’s current attacking options. With the likes of Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo, there is a good number of attacking options, which surely asks the question of whether or not the Reds really need to reinforce in that department.
According to the same publication, Juve could sell Chiesa for a very affordable price of £38m. For a player of his calibre, that could surely prove to be a bargain deal. However, the Reds surely do not have to get on board another left-winger as we have three players who could put in a shift there.
Chiesa to the Reds?
Instead, getting on board right-wingers would be the right thing to do. Chiesa could surely play on either flank, but we have seen over the course of Jurgen Klopp’s time at the Reds that he prefers inverted wingers who play on the opposite flank of their favoured foot.
The next few weeks could prove crucial as Liverpool’s hierarchy evaluates their options and weighs up the financial implications of a move for Chiesa. Even though we need a right-winger with the long-term future in mind, the immediate requirements would obviously remain to strengthen the midfield.
While Liverpool face competition from Bayern and Newcastle United for Chiesa’s signature, the opportunity of playing at Anfield and working under Jurgen Klopp could be a deciding factor.
With two more years to run on his contract at Juve (Transfermarkt), the player could possibly remain available for a lesser price next summer. Hopefully, the Reds wait a while and assess their options before jumping the gun too soon.
