Liverpool target Franck Kessie could leave Barcelona this summer
A not-so-great season for Franck Kessie from a personal perspective could mean that the player could leave Barcelona after only one season with the Catalan giants wherein they won La Liga by a considerable margin.
According to Spanish publication AS, via Paisley Gates (h/t Liverpool ECHO) Franck Kessie could leave Catalonia at a time when Liverpool are among the clubs monitoring his situation. A player like Kessie could prove to become a godsent given how the Reds desperately need a number 6 to back Fabinho up and also increase the competition for places in the XI.
The African midfielder joined Barcelona on a free transfer last year, but his time at the club seems to be nearing its end. With Liverpool in need of midfield reinforcements following the departure of a number of players, Kessie has emerged as a target for Jurgen Klopp‘s side.
Barca could be willing to let go of the player for a minimum fee of £30m. Even though the option of Kessie is not something of a sure shot, the recruitment department at the Reds could maybe give it some thought as there is no doubt that Kessie could add much-needed quality and depth to the squad.
Could Kessie be an option for the Reds?
Fabinho, until the emergence of Stefan Bajcetic in the second half of the season, was pretty wayward when it came to standards of play, and he needed a push from a youngster to find himself at the club.
However, the Reds can’t let this pass as another drop in form could become catastrophic for the Reds as a leaky midfield along with an inconsistent defence last season ensured that the Reds finish nowhere near a Champions League spot and had to settle for fifth.
The potential addition of Kessie would significantly bolster Liverpool’s midfield options and provide a dynamic presence in the centre of the pitch.
His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively would add versatility to Klopp’s side and complement the existing talents in the squad.
