Outgoing Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in ‘advanced talks’ with Aston Villa
Soon-to-be former Liverpool player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is apparently in advanced talks to sign for Premier League club Aston Villa.
That is according to Football Insider via ECHO. A potential move to Birmingham for the 29-year-old Englishman could surely prove to be huge in terms of helping him revive his career after an injury-laid spell at Liverpool.
Joining the club back in 2017 amid a lot of hype, it is very unfortunate that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could not reach the heights he would have envisioned, as an individual. In terms of winning, he has completed the lot and there remains no top-tier club-level trophy left to conquer for the former Gunner.
Hopefully, he can materialise a move to Villa following these ‘advanced talks’. We have obviously seen how talented he is. Safe to say he was next to unstoppable in his first year. Unfortunately, the knee injury against Roma has proven to become too costly.
Ox to Villa
Even though Ox would’ve wanted to end his spell with the Reds in a different manner than how it is actually coming to an end, he could surely be proud of his achievements with the Merseysiders.
After 146 appearances, 18 goals and 15 assists for Liverpool across all competitions plus a complete trophy cabinet, Ox would surely look back at his time with Liverpool from a positive point of view as there is only so much he could have done after the harsh injury as well.
He is still only 29, and there is loads he could offer to any team. A move to Villa seems almost perfect for the player. A team back in Europe in need of energetic midfielders who could provide a strong presence in the middle of the park, look no further than Ox.
And the best part is they are getting him free of any transfer costs. Hopefully, Ox can rejuvenate himself and try his best to stand worth the hype he generated during his time under Arsene Wenger.
