Liverpool and Newcastle among clubs chasing young African striker

Liverpool and Newcastle United are among the clubs interested in Adama Bojang aided by new UK work permit rules

As per the Guardian, Liverpool and Newcastle United are among the handful of English and European clubs that are interested in signing Adama Bojang.

Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves are the Premier League clubs in the race for the Gambia U20 striker. German sides RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt are keeping a close eye on the player too.

The report also reveals that Bojang is favouring a move to Germany, with an offer from an unnamed German club already in the inbox of the player’s current club Steve Biko FC.

The Premier League clubs can also sign him regardless of the fact that he does not have any experience playing in Europe. The new UK work permit rule tells us that the clubs in England’s top two divisions can sign up to four players even if they do not meet the points requirement.

Bojang is an exciting young striker who did well in the recently-concluded U20 World Cup in Argentina. He scored two goals in four games in that competition and was a threat to the opposition defenders.

The 19-year-old was named in the U20 African Cup of Nations Team of the Tournament back in March. Gambia went all the way to the final before losing to Senegal.

Talking about Liverpool, although signing a striker might not be on top of the shop list for this summer, getting a young and exciting player to secure the future would not be a bad idea as well.

Bojang can come in and work on his game while playing for the youth sides before potentially making a debut for the senior team if Jurgen Klopp

is satisfied with his development. It might be tough to sign him though with so many clubs interested.
