Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella’s transfer stance amid Liverpool and Newcastle links
Contrary to a publication a few days ago, Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella who finds himself on the transfer radar of Premier League clubs Newcastle United and Liverpool has made a transfer decision that could likely stand as a barrier to clubs pursuing him.
A publication from The Telegraph (Subscription Required) last week spoke about how Newcastle United are closing in on a deal to sign Barella from Inter under the nose of Liverpool’s interest in the player. However, follow-ups in the form of a disclosure from Gazzetta dello Sport via ECHO say that Barella remains disinterested in moving from Inter.
Even though the 26-year-old Italian international stands ‘unmoved’, higher-ups at Inter would be ‘willing to sell him at the right price’. Inter are holding out for nearer to €80m and that is even if they sanction a sale.
With Barella seemingly disinterested in a move to Liverpool, the Reds must swiftly explore alternative options to bolster their midfield. Jurgen Klopp’s side has thrived on a robust and dynamic midfield in recent years but with a dip in the performance levels of the current midfield, even Jurgen Klopp’s hands seem to remain tied.
What next for Barella?
Moreover, the emergence of Newcastle United as another interested party has further complicated Liverpool’s hopes of securing his signature.
It is important to respect Barella’s decision to stay put at Inter. It is important to make sure that we have a list of able midfield targets for us so that we can explore a move for them. Hopefully, we could get on board other quality players. Barella or not, the Reds need to grow.
As Liverpool regroup and reassesses their options ahead of the new season, only time will tell whether or not they will be able to find a suitable alternative to fill the void left by the departure of the trio of midfielders.
The coming weeks will be crucial for Liverpool’s recruitment team as they navigate the summer transfer market and seek to reinforce their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

The transfer window is a time of uncertainty, and setbacks are part and parcel of the game. The club is much bigger than any player, and that makes it important for the Reds to grow in this dynamic environment and always have multiple options at hand.
