Liverpool make salary promise to star winger Federico Chiesa that Juventus cannot match

Liverpool apparently hold a key advantage in their pursuit of Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

The Italian forward could leave Juve this summer after a poor season for the club where they finished outside the top four following a 15-point deduction Chiesa, meanwhile, has two years left on his contract (Transfermarkt).

Now, Italian outlet Sportmediaset claim that the Reds have met with the player’s agent, Fali Ramadani. They have guaranteed to offer Chiesa a salary that Juventus cannot match.

That is a key plus point in Liverpool’s favour, if true. Juve would understandably want to keep Chiesa — a versatile, talented forward at the peak of his powers.

Chiesa to LFC?

The 25-year-old is coming on the back of a notably poor season where he scored just two goals in 21 Serie A games. But those who have seen him would know just how deadly he can be.

Chiesa can finish, dribble and create chances for his teammates in the final third. He is notably fast off the blocks and is hard to catch when in full stride.

He has the makings of a proper Liverpool winger. Take Mohamed Salah for example. He is a player of a similar profile to Chiesa with his speed, finishing and dribbling skills.

The Egyptian star also plays down the middle at times, which is something that Chiesa also does. Salah, 31, isn’t getting any younger so the Italy international could be seen as his successor here.

If not, he can be a very good competition for Mo, because despite Salah’s stellar performances over the years, there have been stretches of games where he is out of sorts and very ineffective in front of goal. Chiesa would offer Jurgen Klopp a very good alternative during those times.
