Tottenham Hotspur enter the race for Liverpool target Micky van de Ven
Fabrizio Romano confirmed via Twitter Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven. The 22-year-old Dutchman has long been on the radar of Liverpool, as per Liverpool Echo. But Spurs’ nose poking makes things a bit difficult now.
Romano’s tweet also read that talks already took place between Van de Ven‘s reps and the London club’s representatives. The player is currently with The Netherlands’ U21 team for the UEFA U21 Euros.
In one game already, he started and finished the game on the left side of central defence in a goalless draw against Belgium. Having said that, the race to secure his services will surely intensify in the coming weeks.
This unexpected turn of events in the form of Spurs’ interest has certainly complicated Liverpool’s pursuit and increased the competition for Van de Ven’s services.
With both Liverpool and Tottenham vying for Van de Ven’s talents, the competition has become fierce. The defender’s composure, aerial prowess, and ability to play out from the back make him an ideal candidate to strengthen any team’s defence.
His previous association with Liverpool Sporting Director Jorg Schmadtke could surely come in handy as Schmadtke was the one responsible for bringing him to the Bundesliga. Hopefully, the German sweet-talks him into joining the Reds.
