Liverpool know price for Juventus star Federico Chiesa

Federico Chiesa of Juventus finds himself on the Reds’ transfer radar and there has been a lot of speculation in recent weeks over a move to Liverpool for the 25-year-old Italian international.

According to a revelation from The Mirror, Liverpool show a lot of interest in securing the services of Chiesa. According to the publication, the Reds wanted him in 2021 as well, but we got on Luis Diaz in the winter window of that season.

The quoted price for Chiesa this time around will be much less in comparison to that of December, as Juve want around £30m-£38.5m as opposed to their ask from two years ago, at £86m.

Two things Liverpool need to consider here. Is it worth paying so much money for a backup to Mohamed Salah? Moreover, do the Reds have a style of play incorporating a right-footed player on the right wing? This question arises only due to Jurgen Klopp’s style of play with inverted wingers who cut inside towards the centre.

Having said that, he is surely a quality player. Even though his statistics from last season are not quite his best, that is only due to an injury-plagued season. The “eye test” is a strong indicator of how good a player Chiesa is.

Styles of play similar to Liverpool’s wingers, the former Fiorentina man mostly plays through the left wing as well. However, the Reds have a plethora of options on that flank, and we could do with the services of a proper right-winger instead of a player who could play there.

Moreover, we need midfielders. Until now, we have signed only Alexis Mac Allister, and there is plenty of room for other midfielders as well. Our depth in the middle of the park is quite bleak and we need to address that first.

There’s enough depth in quality and in terms of players when it comes to the frontline. That is why securing the services of an attacker could remain snoozed for the time being.

Chiesa has 22 goals across 94 appearances for Juve since joining the club in 2020. Even though he could prove to be a good signing, we have other issues to solve, and that starts with the renovation of our engine room.
