Liverpool backed to rival Real Madrid for Kylian Mbappe
Speaking to Spanish outlet Radio Marca (h/t Liverpool Echo), FIFA agent Marco Kirdemuir has revealed that Liverpool have not given up on Kylian Mbappe and will challenge Real Madrid for his signature.
It is also revealed that the French superstar is set to become the world’s most expensive football player as his current employers Paris-Saint Germain are set to hold out for a large sum of money.
Mbappe’s current terms in Paris expire next summer (Transfermarkt). There are many rumours about his future which should not be dealt with here.
Kirdemuir has said that the 24-year-old could attract a transfer bid of up to £257m. That is simply a lot of money.
There was another transfer rumour in the Liverpool Echo which stated that Liverpool are readying a £77m bid to sign Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde.
It also revealed that Los Blancos are planning to use the money from the potential Valverde sale to fund the Mbappe signing.
If all of the claims mentioned above are true, Liverpool would be sensible not to delve into the Mbappe situation and focus on signing Valverde to bolster a weakened midfield department.
As good as Mbappe is (and he is exceptionally good), the last thing the Reds want in this window is another left-sided attacker.
Coming out of that big-money talk bubble, let’s take these rumour links with a pinch of salt. Forget paying £257m for Mbappe, to say that Liverpool are in the race for a player who would cost that much money sounds ludicrous.
