Benjamin Pavard stance emerges as Liverpool continue to see themselves linked
Benjamin Pavard and his search for a club that will play him in his preferred centre-back position continues, as he looks to leave Bayern Munich this summer with Liverpool among the clubs named as a potential destination for the player.
According to German publication Kicker via ECHO, no club so far has approached Bayern, leaving Pavard with no option for the time being apart from turning up for pre-season with the Bundesliga giants. In late June, the Reds saw themselves named as a potential destination for Pavard amid a few other clubs including Manchester City.
The French defender, who has one year left on his contract with the Bundesliga champions (Transfermarkt), expressed his desire to explore a new challenge in England, Italy, or Spain to Bayern earlier this summer. Despite multiple reports suggesting Pavard’s desire to depart Bayern for several months, no concrete offers have materialised.
The summer transfer window remains open, and developments in Pavard’s situation can unfold rapidly. Liverpool, like any club, must carefully evaluate the financial aspects and weigh the benefits of acquiring the French defender.
Pavard to the Reds?
While Liverpool could give him the opportunity to play in his preferred centre-back position, it seems that the Reds have not yet shown any concrete interest in bringing the 2018 World Cup winner to Anfield.
If Jurgen Klopp decides to play a wing-back system, Pavard could be one of the three central defenders wherein he would not have to run up and down the pitch as much as he would if he played a traditional full-back.
The arrival of a player of Pavard’s calibre would provide healthy competition and depth in the defensive line, enhancing the team’s ability to compete at the highest level.
While no club has yet approached Bayern for Pavard’s services, the transfer landscape can change quickly.
