Juventus drop their asking price for Liverpool target Federico Chiesa

The transfer saga surrounding Federico Chiesa and Liverpool continues, with Juventus lowering their asking price for the Italian winger.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport [Print Edition], as cited by Paisley Gates via liverpool.com, suggests that Juventus is now willing to accept around £43m for Chiesa’s signature, down from their initial demands of £51m.

While Chiesa is a wonderful player and all of that, the Reds should think twice before investing. Despite the reduced asking price, signing Chiesa still poses a significant risk for Liverpool due to his injury record. The winger has had his fair share of fitness issues throughout his career, making him a gamble for any potential buyer.

Therefore, considering him as a replacement for the durable and rarely injured Mohamed Salah seems illogical.

Liverpool has more pressing matters to address in the transfer market, with the team having bigger priorities than pursuing Chiesa at the moment. We could surely get on board a central defender and even one more midfielder. It’s important to maintain a level-headed perspective and not get swept up in transfer rumours that lack substantial evidence.

While Chiesa is undoubtedly a talented player, his potential acquisition does not align with the club’s current needs or the risk profile they typically consider when making transfer decisions.

Rather than focusing on potential moves that may not materialize, Liverpool fans should place their trust in the existing squad and the coaching staff to deliver success in the upcoming season and try to get players on board who are free of injury issues and can contribute substantially.

Salah’s commitment to the club and his consistent availability make the notion of his departure unlikely at this stage.
