Al-Ittihad in discussions with Liverpool over 29-year-old star

Al-Ittihad ‘discussing key details’ with Liverpool for Brazil midfielder Fabinho

Liverpool and Al-Ittihad are progressing in their talks regarding Fabinho and the two clubs are now ‘discussing key details’ concerning the midfielder’s move, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

The Saudi Pro League outfit have already submitted an official proposal to the Reds to acquire the services of the Brazil international. However, now, the two parties are negotiating the deal’s payment terms, instalments and other particulars.

As things stand, the Middle Eastern side have already agreed personal terms with Fabinho. The 29-year-old was convinced about making a move to the Jeddah-based club after speaking to manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Al-Ittihad and Liverpool are discussing details regarding a move for Fabinho.

Now, all that remains is for Liverpool and Al-Ittihad to come to a consensus. The Brazilian has been a key player for the Anfield side over the years. Therefore, it will be interesting to see what the Reds will decide.

In the summer of 2018, the Merseyside outfit signed Fabinho from AS Monaco. The midfielder took a year to settle in at the club. However, after his debut campaign, the enforcer became pivotal to our success.

Liverpool have won the Champions League and Premier League in recent seasons. The Brazilian has been an important part of that. We also were on course to get our hands on the quadruple in the 2021/22 term.

Unfortunately, the 29-year-old’s performances dropped off massively last season. While he did get better as the campaign went on, the former Monaco star looked like a shadow of his former self.

Liverpool has signed Alexis Mac Allister this summer. However, we evidently still need to bolster the middle of the park after the departure of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain recently.

If Fabinho were to leave, the need for reinforcements in the engine room would evidently only increase. Will the Reds end up selling the Brazilian to Al-Ittihad this summer? Only time will tell.
