Liverpool have joined the race to sign Rennes winger Jeremy Doku, with Aston Villa also showing interest in acquiring the talented attacker.

Meanwhile, Doku‘s preference lies in securing a move to the Premier League, despite receiving approaches from Serie A clubs AC Milan and Napoli. That is according to CaughtOffside

While Liverpool’s primary focus this transfer window seems to be strengthening their defence and midfield, their long-term admiration for Doku has led them to explore the possibility of securing his services. The young Belgian winger has garnered attention for his exciting playing style and impressive performances at Rennes and was top quality for Belgium in the 2020 UEFA Euros as well.

The 21-year-old in 90 appearances for Rennes in all competitions has 11 goals and 10 assists. If you sit to think about it, Liverpool could do with the services of a right-winger.

Although defence and midfield remain the key areas of concern, the club understands the importance of nurturing young talent and building for the future. Mo Salah is the only option we have on the right wing. Other options like Harvey Elliott do not have a lot of pace, and Ben Doak is still up and coming.
