Southampton reject Liverpool bid for Romeo Lavia

In the quest to bolster their midfield department, Liverpool made an ambitious move for Southampton’s young talent, Romeo Lavia.

However, the Reds’ initial offer of £37m stands rejected by Southampton, who hold out for a more significant sum of £50m for Lavia. David Ornstein reports the same via The Athletic.

Despite the setback, Lavia remains keen on a potential move to Anfield, and his personal terms for the transfer will not cause a problem. The 19-year-old midfielder has caught Liverpool’s eye with his impressive performances for Southampton, having joined the club from Manchester City just last summer. He has also assisted a goal for Liverpool already after his misplaced pass went straight to Diogo Jota who finished it first time in our 4-4 draw against Southampton earlier this year. Banter aside, he is a very good player.

Liverpool’s interest in Lavia comes as no surprise, given their recent midfield exodus. Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Arthur Melo have all departed from Anfield during the summer transfer window.
