Jordan Henderson bid his farewell ahead of the move from Liverpool to Al-Ettifaq
As per Daily Mail, Jordan Henderson has said his farewell ahead of the move from Liverpool to Saudi Arabia side Al-Ettifaq in the coming days.
A few days ago, the Athletic (subscription required) revealed that the Reds skipper has completed his medical ahead of the £12m move to the middle east.
The Daily Mail report states that Henderson had a conversation at length with Jurgen Klopp about his playing time possibilities at Anfield. He also spoke to England boss Gareth Southgate to clarify if his move to Saudi would impact his selection in the national team or not.
By the looks of it, everyone is happy with this move and it is a matter of time before it gets officially announced. The LGBTQ groups are the ones not happy and they have their reasons for that.
Looking at the fee, it is probably the highest value Liverpool could get out of the departure of Henderson. The 33-year-old has been performing badly since the start of the 2021/22 season. Once that happens, however vocal you are as a leader, it doesn’t come through to the squad. In sports, captains have to lead the way by performing well.
There is a reason why Liverpool did well and won the Champions League and the Premier League in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons respectively. Henderson’s two best seasons as a player came at that time.

Ignoring the fact that he will be playing for a club in Saudi, this move suits all parties. Liverpool get some money that can be used to sign a couple more players in this window. Henderson gets a move to a club where he is expected to play regularly under Steven Gerrard.
