Marco Verratti unhappy with PSG situation amid links with Liverpool, move to Saudi looks close
Liverpool-linked Marco Verratti is in two minds about his future as, at the moment, the player seems unhappy with his situation at Paris Saint-Germain and wants a switch. He also sees himself linked with a potential move to Atletico Madrid.
El Nacional have heavily linked the former Pescara midfielder with a move to Anfield. Speaking of Verratti’s situation at PSG on the Talking Transfers Podcast, journalist Graeme Bailey talked about a potential exit from the Ligue 1 champions.
“We can’t underestimate how popular Kylian Mbappe is in the PSG camp. We will be doing a piece on Marco Verratti. He’s a bit unsettled, he’s not happy with how PSG have treated his friends Neymar and Mbappe, and after this latest episode he’s thinking about his future as well.”
L’Équipe claim that a divide in the camp at PSG due to the treatment of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr. has been detrimental to Verratti wanting to leave Luis Enrique’s side. Liverpool, who are in need of midfield reinforcements in the wake of the departure of a number of midfielders over the summer window, could do with the services of the 30-year-old Italian international.
The Reds have bid farewell to players like James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, leaving a void in the heart of their midfield. The impending moves of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho further put us in testing times.
Verratti to the Reds?
Marco Verratti’s vast experience and creative prowess could surely be a valuable addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side. Known for his technical abilities and composure on the ball, the Italian international has been a vital presence in PSG’s midfield for years. His experience at the top level shall surely hold value at Anfield, wherein we could do with some.
However, given he still has two years to go on his deal with PSG play the ball in their court (Transfermarkt). Keeping in mind he’s 30 already, if there’s anything posing a threat to the deal, it could only be the financial aspect of it. And that aspect is made even tougher for the Reds considering Fabrizio Romano’s latest update on the Italian star.
The journalist says Al-Hilal are in advanced talks to sign Verratti and have offered him a three-year deal. Given the Saudi Pro League’s financial prowess, Liverpool fans can expect this to be a losing race for the Reds.
While Verratti’s desire for a move is apparent, it remains to be seen if Liverpool can successfully negotiate with PSG to bring the talented midfielder to Merseyside. The financial aspect of the deal and PSG’s willingness to part ways with one of their key players will play a crucial role in determining the feasibility of this transfer.
Romano says PSG want over €30million for the midfielder. That is a fee Liverpool fans would hope the Merseyside giants don’t mind meeting. But it is the personal agreement part where Saudi teams seem to have an edge over the competitors due to their financial clout.
