Ryan Babel gives Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp verdict
Former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has expressed his admiration for the Reds’ summer transfer business and is optimistic about the team’s future under Jurgen Klopp.
Babel acknowledges that the work is in progress for the Reds to return to their former glory. He also remains confident in Jurgen Klopp’s abilities as a manager and believes that the German tactician will address the team’s shortcomings from the previous season. Here is what he told talkSPORT via The Mirror:
“I think there’s still a lot of work to do but again, I’m a Liverpool fan, I have good hopes. I trust Jurgen Klopp. I know that he knows last season was of course not good enough, so this season they definitely have to step it up.”
Last season was undoubtedly challenging for Liverpool, as they failed to meet the high expectations set for them and couldn’t maintain a sustained title challenge or secure silverware. However, they showed resilience and determination by finishing the campaign with a remarkable seven consecutive wins in April and May, ultimately clinching a respectable fifth-placed finish and securing European football for the upcoming season.
The summer transfer business has been a bright spot for Liverpool, with the club making significant signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szboszlai to strengthen the squad.
But as Babel said, there is work to be done at the club. A new centre-back is surely needed while Jordan Henderson’s imminent Al-Ettifaq transfer leaves us in need of another midfielder.
Promising campaign ahead for the Reds
These additions are promising and have surely raised excitement among fans, including Babel, who recognizes the potential impact these players can have on the team’s performance. The expectation for Liverpool to perform at their best is always high, given their illustrious history and passionate fan base. Babel’s unwavering support and belief in the team’s abilities reflect the loyalty shared by many Liverpool supporters worldwide.
As Liverpool looks ahead to the new season, the focus will be on reclaiming their place among the top contenders in the Premier League and Europe. Klopp and his players are certainly well aware that last season fell short of their ambitions, and they are determined to step up their game and compete at the highest level once again.
Hopefully, the next season brings some silverware to Anfield. The last campaign was surely not a reflection of the hard work the players have been putting in behind the scenes, and there is hope that the next season would be better for the Reds.
