Liverpool are in the race for Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Jesper Lindstrom
Liverpool FC’s pursuit of talent continues as they have reportedly made contact with Eintracht Frankfurt for the highly sought-after midfielder Jesper Lindstrom. The 23-year-old Danish international has caught the attention of several top clubs, including Arsenal, Juventus, Tottenham, and Newcastle.
According to Danish publication Ekstra Bladet (via Sport Witness)[h/t Metro], Liverpool hope to beat all these clubs to secure the services of Lindstrom. The player enjoyed a remarkable rise since joining Frankfurt from Brondby in 2021. His impressive performances have seen him make 77 appearances in just two seasons, scoring 14 goals and 13 assists along the way. His contributions were instrumental in Frankfurt’s triumph in the Europa League last year. He was rightly recognized as the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year in the same season.
The Denmark international’s immense potential attracted interest from various clubs across Europe, with Arsenal also seeing themselves linked to him as early as April. However, as Lindstrom’s reputation continues to grow, more clubs have joined the race for his signature.
RB Leipzig has displayed the most concrete interest in Lindstrom, having tabled a bid of around £22m earlier in the summer. Nonetheless, Frankfurt rejected the offer, indicating their determination to retain their prized asset.
Lindstrom to the Reds?
Frankfurt’s stance on Lindstrom’s valuation is firm, with reports suggesting they are seeking a fee in the region of £35m to £40m. Given the intense competition for his services, such a price tag seems reasonable and in line with the market value for top talents.
Liverpool’s interest in Lindstrom highlights their ambition to strengthen their squad and bolster their midfield options. As the transfer window progresses we must come to the realisation that the club’s best interests at the moment, lie in securing the services of an experienced campaigner as opposed to youngsters, as our squad has a plethora of young options to choose from.
Manager Jurgen Klopp and the club’s hierarchy are keen on adding depth and quality to their midfield, and Lindstrom certainly fits the bill as a potential addition to their ranks.
