Liverpool-linked winger Jeremy Doku is now a subject of interest for Manchester City
As per a tweet from Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City add Jeremy Doku, who has been linked with Liverpool several times, to the list of players they can sign.
After allowing Riyad Mahrez to leave for Saudi Arabia this summer, Pep Guardiola is aiming to replace him by potentially signing Doku. Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise is also on their list.
Having been linked with him in the past as well, Doku’s name was circulating around the Liverpool transfer mill in this window too.
After signing three forwards in the last three transfer windows – Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo, it was highly unlikely that the Reds would pursue a signature of another player in that position even after the departure of Roberto Firmino this summer.
So, as soon as the links with Doku resurfaced, it obviously did not get much attention because we all are focused on which midfielders the club are looking to sign. The Belgian getting linked with City makes more sense because they have lost a winger in this window.
On the other hand, Liverpool have done a good job of midfield revival with the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. They would like to add a defensive midfielder to cope with the departure of Fabinho to Saudi.
James Pearce of the Athletic revealed that Jurgen Klopp would also look to sign a defender before this window shuts. The club was linked with a move for Chelsea defender Levi Colwill.
That is off the radar now because the Englishman has agreed on a new six-year contract with the Blues. He is also guaranteed starting spot by manager Mauricio Pochettino.
