), Liverpool have presented a €60m offer to sign Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde this summer.

The source has mentioned multiple times that if Los Blancos make a move for Kylian Mbappe in this window, it could have a domino effect of them having to sell a couple of their assets.

It is also claimed that Liverpool will have to offer something in the region of €80m if they are to convince Madrid of selling Valverde. Aurelien Tchouameni is on the list of players who could be sacrificed to get Mbappe.

While all this sounds good on paper and in fantasy world, let’s not get ahead of ourselves when it comes to real life. Firstly, we can only dream of Liverpool spending £80m to sign a midfielder. They have just seen three bids rejected for Romeo Lavia who is rated £50m by his club Southampton.

And if the Reds have the budget, it is highly unlikely that the 14-time European champions sell either Tchouameni or Valverede. The arrival of Jude Bellingham may have changed the landscape there, but there are a few old midfielders who could leave the club in a year or two time.

So, let’s quash this rumour before it starts to make any smoke. As Liverpool fans, we are compelled to be realistic in the transfer market and not think too highly about the level of players we would sign, at least as far as their price-tags are concerned.

On the contrary, let’s just say Madrid are in a position to sell Valverde. Why would the Uruguayan want to come to a club that is playing Europa League football? He is such a good player that plenty of top players will get interested in him the moment he is on the market.
