Bayern enter the race alongside Liverpool and Chelsea for Moises Caicedo
Adding much more intrigue to the still-developing transfer saga surrounding Moises Caicedo, Chelsea and Liverpool, Bayern Munich enter the race alongside the Premier League duo to sign the 21-year-old central midfielder.
This is the word of Sky Sports’ Twitter via ECHO, who say the German champions are also exploring a deal to land the Ecuadorian.
Following reports of Liverpool outbidding Chelsea for Caicedo, this new update is a bit worrisome for Liverpool in their pursuit of the former Beerschot player. Brighton’s position is understandably clear that they shall sell to the highest bidder. It is now up to Liverpool to also match Brighton’s ask and persuade Caicedo to join the Reds over Chelsea and Bayern.
As the summer transfer saga unfolds, it becomes evident that Liverpool’s necessity for midfield reinforcements goes beyond that of their competitors. While Chelsea and Bayern Munich boast well-stocked midfield arsenals, Liverpool’s midfield cupboard appears comparatively bare. In fact, until very recently, the Reds were interested in securing the services of Bayern’s own Ryan Gravenberch.
Caicedo to the Reds?
Liverpool’s need for new midfield players has become even more important due to several players leaving the team. Important midfield players leaving, along with the need to bring in new energy, highlights how crucial it is for Liverpool to focus on signing midfielders.
Bayern and Chelsea both are much more secure than Liverpool in terms of midfield prowess as well as financial might. It will surely be a huge task for the team at Liverpool to convince Caicedo to join the Merseysiders over the other two teams.
At this point, Liverpool’s quest for midfield reinforcements has become a case of need rather than wants. It was always like this, more so with the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

While it will surely grab headlines when Liverpool pay up [if they] a £100m to secure Caicedo’s services, the only certainty that that deal brings along with it is a sense of stability in the Reds’ midfield at a time when we are in dire need of it.
