Fluminense stance revealed as Liverpool pursue interest in Andre Trindade

A sense of bad news comes towards Liverpool as Fluminense reveal their stance on Andre Trindade amid the Reds’ interest in the 22-year-old defensive midfielder.

As fans eagerly await reinforcements in the midfield, the latest report from Brazilian outlet Globo via ECHO sheds light on the future of the talented midfielder and its implications for the Reds. With Fluminense’s recent qualification for the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores, their stance on Andre’s availability has been resolute: he is not for sale.

For Liverpool, a club that is hopefully aware of the urgency to bolster their midfield, this revelation adds an intriguing layer to the ongoing narrative. The departure of several key midfielders over the summer has left a void that demands filling sooner than later.

The cautious approach adopted by Fluminense aligns with their ambitions in the Copa Libertadores. However, it also presents a challenge for Liverpool, who are keeping a watchful eye on the situation.

No #6 for the Reds

Apparently, the Reds want to explore the opportunity of getting Andre on board in 2024, when he is available for sale. Instead of trying to trigger the £34m release clause, waiting until 2024 is surely not an ideal move. Not only will it be too late to have him on board then, but the potential impact he could have on half a season in the Premier League would also naturally be less than in case he makes a move over this summer as it would be a fresh start for either party.

While the acquisitions of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai injected a sense of excitement, it is fair to say that they may not entirely replicate the influential role that someone like Fabinho played for the club. In that sense, it is important for the Reds to address all areas of concern, which so far, they haven’t. The concerns are growing.

As the narrative around Andre Trindade continues to unfold, it is an opportune moment for Liverpool to reflect on their midfield strategy and introspect what they need and make arrangements for it as soon as possible.
