Liverpool goalie Marcelo Pitaluga open to loan switch
Liverpool goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga is weighing his options, and a loan move seems to be on the horizon for the young talent.
Amidst the roster of goalkeeping options Jurgen Klopp has at his disposal, Pitaluga is considering a temporary exit to further his growth. Speaking to the club’s official website, here is what the 20-year-old Brazilian had to say:
“Going out on loan to a Football League team is one possibility. We will see how it goes, but it is massive at my age to be playing games. It would be a step up from last season, but I am more than ready for that.”
“Last season I played for Macclesfield but was still able to train here at Liverpool and then go up there for the games. I played loads of games until I unfortunately got injured and it was really important to get minutes.”
Presently, the goalkeeping department boasts four contenders: Alisson, Caoimhin Kelleher, Adrian, and Pitaluga. While the Brazilian shot-stopper is undoubtedly a promising talent, he currently ranks behind the established trio in the pecking order.
Pitaluga’s journey took an encouraging turn during his maiden loan spell at Macclesfield FC. The Silkmen’s successful campaign saw them secure the Northern Premier League West title. Despite a finger injury that temporarily sidelined him, Pitaluga’s return to the field was marked by clinching a winner’s medal.
Macclesfield’s ascent to the cusp of the Football League represents a significant achievement. However, Pitaluga has his sights set on an even greater challenge. He acknowledged the allure of a loan move to a Football League team, highlighting the immense importance of gaining playing time at this juncture of his career. He expressed his readiness for the challenge, affirming his preparedness to embrace a higher level of competition.
Pitaluga’s perspective underscores his hunger for growth and development. While his time at Macclesfield showcased his potential, the Brazilian goalkeeper is eager to test his mettle in a more demanding environment.
Pitaluga’s contemplation of a loan move signifies a pivotal juncture in his career. The goalkeeping landscape at Liverpool is competitive, and Pitaluga’s desire for meaningful game time has led him to explore opportunities beyond Anfield.
