Romano confirm’s Liverpool’ stance on Mohamed Salah amid Saudi interest

Romano confirms that Liverpool have no intention of selling Mohamed Salah despite Saudi interest

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool have no interest in selling Mohamed Salah despite rumours linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia.

A few weeks ago, there was a transfer update that Saudi club Al-Ittihad are eyeing a move for the Egyptian superstar in this window.

But, the 31-year-old’s agent immediately quashed those rumours by stating that the player would not have signed a new deal with the club last summer if the intention was to leave this year.

Al-Ittihad manager, who is Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, made it clear that they won’t try to poach Salah from Anfield anytime soon.

Here’s what Romano said when asked about the future of the Egyptian at Liverpool (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“From what I am told the position of Liverpool is very clear. Salah is untouchable, with Fabinho and Henderson they did something special, as they allowed the players to leave. But they don’t want Mo Salah to leave.”

Salah is a Liverpool legend regardless of when he leaves the club. He has done more than enough to give us countless memorable moments in the last six years.

It is great to know that he is staying though. The Egyptian still seems to have the power and the will to carry the Reds through to a potentially successful season.

Among all the attacking options Jurgen Klopp has, he does not have a left-footed killer in the final third apart from Salah. Ben Doak is developing well but has to learn the art of converting promising moments into goals and assists.

By perhaps not playing the Europa League games, especially in the group stage, Salah would have enough gap between league games to be fresh every time he steps onto the field. That can only be bad news for the opposition defenders.

The mentality he possesses could rub off on the likes of Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and co. His partnership on the right-hand side with Dominik Szoboszlai would be important in due course.
