Liverpool are set to miss out on Cheick Doucoure due to Crystal Palace’s high price valuation

According to Evening Standard, Liverpool will miss out on signing Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure as they are put off by the price tag of the player.

It is revealed that Palace will only sell the Mali international so late in the transfer window if their £70m valuation is met.

Liverpool have not left themselves with enough time to negotiate the price down and allow the Eagles to sign a replacement if they want to let go of Doucoure.

The Reds are currently in negotiations with Bayern Munich to hopefully sign Ryan Gravenberch. The good thing is that the player prefers a move to Anfield over Manchester United (already a Liverpool legend then!).

The Dutchman is more of a versatile midfield player the club were targeting after signing Wataru Endo. We almost forget that they registered their interest in the 21-year-old long before the transfer window began.

Coming back to Doucoure, he is that specialist number six and a Fabinho replacement Liverpool could have done with. But, it is highly unlikely they sign him now.

The pressure, as a result, will be put on Endo and Stefan Bajcetic to share the minutes in defensive midfield before Andre potentially arrives in January.

Seeing how good the character of this squad is to churn out wins with 10 men against Bournemouth and Newcastle United, it doesn’t need wholesale additions to make them title contenders.

For that reason, although missing out on Doucoure is bad, let’s hope the club gets the Gravenberch deal done and work towards signing Andre as soon as the January window. Once the latter two arrive, the underwhelming feeling of losing out on the former would not be there.
