Liverpool looking to send Melkamu Frauendorf on loan

Liverpool youngster Melkamu Frauendorf could soon head out on loan as the Reds look to let him move temporarily in search of regular game-time.

The player is on the radar of numerous Bundesliga clubs. GOAL’s Neil Jones via Twitter reveals that Frauendorf could head to the German first tier as a few clubs show interest in signing him.

Frauendorf joined Liverpool FC in August 2020 and has since been a regular feature in the under-19 and under-21 groups. He has also had the opportunity to play for Jurgen Klopp’s senior side on two occasions, once in the League Cup and once in the FA Cup, and was part of the pre-season squad this summer.

Loan moves are a valuable opportunity for young players to gain valuable experience and playing time at a higher level. Frauendorf’s slightly curtailed pre-season could mean that a loan move would represent his best chance for minutes in the upcoming season.

Mel to the Bundesliga

The move to the Bundesliga could provide Frauendorf with the chance to test himself against top-level competition and gain valuable experience in a different footballing culture. The Bundesliga is known for its fast-paced and attacking style of play, which could be beneficial for Frauendorf’s development as a player. Liverpool has a history of successfully loaning out young players and seeing them return to the club as more mature and experienced individuals.

Harvey Elliott surely stands out as a prime example of this. Speaking of Frauendorf though, he can test his versatility out on loan to decide which position works best for him. He can play attacking midfield and lead the attack on either flank. A move to Germany won’t be new for him as he joined the Reds’ Youth Team from Hoffenheim.

A move to a competitive league like the Bundesliga is an ideal opportunity for him to gain that experience, and it should surely help him take the next step in his career.
