It took Dominik Szoboszlai four games to open his goal tally with Liverpool. Our new #8 took his chance against Aston Villa beautifully and scored the goal which gave the Reds the lead against Aston Villa.
Two more goals, courtesy of Matty Cash ( own goal ) and Mohamed Salah meant that the Reds kept a clean sheet while gathering their three points at Anfield. Szoboszlai, speaking to the BBC talked through his goal and how it was a repetition of what goes on behind the scenes at the AXA Training Centre.
“It is a special moment. If you score your first goal for Liverpool at Anfield it is always special. I am looking forward to getting even more.
“To be honest we practice in training these situations and I think after the first game I shoot 50m over the goal so I was concentrating even more. It is also a bit of luck but I just try my best.”
He is proving to be worth every penny of the £60m release clause the Reds triggered to get him on board from RB Leipzig. His goal-scoring prowess coupled with his magnificent work rate and defensive solidity means that the Reds have truly secured the services of a player who is multi-dimensional.
Szoboszlai’s rapid adaptation to Liverpool’s style of play and his ability to make an immediate impact have certainly made him a standout performer.
