Liverpool were ready to offer key striker Darwin Nunez to sign Barcelona attacker Joao Felix this summer

Liverpool had an interest in signing Barcelona loanee Joao Felix during the summer transfer window as a potential replacement for Darwin Nunez. However, it’s worth noting that Felix rejected all advances to join his preferred club.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo suggests that the Reds considered the Portuguese in a swap deal involving one of their forwards. According to them, Liverpool had discussed a potential swap involving the 24-year-old forward Nunez.

The Atletico Madrid attacker attracted interest from Man United and Al Hilal, but it seems he was solely focused on joining Barcelona. Consequently, he rejected offers from all the mentioned teams, including Liverpool, to make his “dream” transfer to Barcelona a reality.

Felix as a replacement for Nunez would make less sense at a time when the Uruguayan striker has started scoring crucial goals.

However, it’s doubtful that Liverpool ever seriously considered the former Chelsea loanee as a replacement for any player. While he is undoubtedly a talented player, even earning praise from Jurgen Klopp, the reality is that Liverpool currently possesses stronger alternatives.

Felix’s reputation has taken a hit after uninspiring spells at Atletico and Chelsea, making him a less attractive signing. In contrast, Nunez has enjoyed a strong summer and a promising start to the season at Liverpool. With just one year at Anfield, the club is unlikely to consider replacing him anytime soon.

While the South American star faces competition for a spot in the Red’s starting lineup, he still has a valuable role to play, as demonstrated in his recent performance against Newcastle. It seems more like a Spanish publication hyping up Barcelona’s new signing rather than Liverpool actively seeking a change.

In our opinion, the Reds won’t mind missing out on the Portuguese ace and they will be determined to work on their current squad for the ongoing PL season. Nunez has shown good form and appears poised to contribute more goals for the Reds.
