Liverpool might explore the opportunity of letting Mohamed Salah leave the club next summer instead of now. And especially after the positive start that the club has gone on this season.
That is according to former Red Jamie Carragher who believes that the amount the Saudis are willing to pay for Mo is surely not something that the Reds might pass on and that is why, instead of now, the club could sell the 31-year-old Egyptian next summer. Here is what Carra told talkSPORT
via ECHO on that front:“But I think for all parties it almost feels right next summer where Liverpool would get a substantial transfer fee, Liverpool would have Salah this season and give them a great opportunity of success, and then Liverpool have 12 months to think of someone – if there is anyone out there – who can replace him.”
Following a disappointing campaign last year, the pressure was on Liverpool to get going almost immediately this time around. That is what they have done this year, and to sell Salah at this time, when the future looks promising, might appear a little bit too dense for a club as big as ours.
Salah’s statistics speak volumes about his importance to the team. His incredible goal tally, complemented by his impressive assist count, has been the driving force behind Liverpool’s successes in recent years. He has played an instrumental role in securing silverware. Despite the undeniable bond between Salah and Liverpool, Carragher’s recent comments have added a layer of uncertainty to the narrative.
The idea of Liverpool potentially parting ways with their talismanic forward is a notion that many fans would find difficult to digest.
However, Carragher’s perspective cannot be dismissed outright. Football is a dynamic sport, and the landscape can change rapidly. Transfers and player movements are part and parcel of the game, and even the most cherished club icons can find themselves on different paths.
The key takeaway from Carra’s comments is the emphasis on timing and value. He suggests that Liverpool should consider a transfer deal for Salah, but only if the terms are right. This pragmatic approach reflects the business aspect of football, where decisions must balance sentiment with the long-term interests of the club.
In the end, the decision regarding Salah’s future will depend on various factors, including the player’s wishes, the club’s ambitions, and the financial considerations involved.
One thing remains certain: Mohamed Salah’s legacy at Liverpool is firmly established, and he will forever hold a special place in the hearts of Reds fans worldwide. Whether he continues to script new chapters in Liverpool’s storied history or embarks on a new adventure, his impact on the club’s fortunes is undeniable.
