30-year-old Liverpool starred in his team’s heroic win against Germany

Liverpool star Wataru Endo starred for Japan in 4-1 win over Germany

Liverpool midfielder Wataru Endo captained his national side as Japan beat Germany 4-1 in a recent friendly. The former Stuttgart man was part of a two-man midfield pivot alongside Sporting CP’s Hidemasa Morita.

Goals from Junya Ito, Ayase Ueda, Takuma Asano and Ao Tanaka saw Hajime Moriyasu’s side win over Hansi Flick’s men, for whom Leroy Sane was the only goal-scorer. Endo’s performance as the captain of his national team reflects his growing influence and stature in football.

His experience and composure in midfield have been key attributes that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp aims to utilise in the Premier League. Since his arrival at Anfield during the summer transfer window, Endo has made three

appearances in the league, including a start against Newcastle United.

The friendly match against Germany allowed Endo to demonstrate his versatility and adaptability as he continues to integrate into Liverpool’s squad. His ability to lead on the international stage speaks to his leadership qualities, which could prove valuable in Liverpool’s pursuit of success. Endo’s role as captain underscores his importance to both club and country, and Liverpool supporters will surely sit eager to see how his contributions evolve throughout the season.

Endo Shines For The Samurai Blue

As Liverpool compete on multiple fronts, having a player like Endo who can bring composure, leadership, and tactical awareness to the midfield is surely a valuable asset. The Japanese international’s ability to adapt seamlessly to Klopp’s system is a positive sign for the club’s ambitions in domestic and international competitions.

Moreover, his versatility means that he could fill in at centre-back as and when the situation demands him to do so. We surely needed someone with his profile to compensate for the loss of so much experience in the form of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho over the summer transfer window.

It is great to see so many of Liverpool’s players shine for their respective national sides. Hopefully, they bring along this form with them to Merseyside as well, in our quest for silverware, albeit domestic or the Europa League.
