Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s agent Marc Kosicke, has dismissed the claims of his client leaving Anfield to take over Germany role
The agent of Jurgen Klopp, Marc Kosicke, has denied claims regarding the Liverpool boss potentially becoming the new head coach of the Germany national team next summer.
Die Mannschaft are facing a huge backlash from the fans due to a disappointing streak of five friendly matches without a win, including three consecutive losses. After their 4-1 defeat to Japan at Wolfsburg’s Volkswagen Arena last week, the German Football Association (DFB) made the decision to dismiss Hansi Flick from his coaching position.
The fortunes of the coach who led Bayern Munich to a treble in 2020 took a sharp downturn after an initial successful period where he won his first eight games in charge since taking over in 2021. Germany managed only four wins in their next 17 matches, including a disappointing group-stage exit at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Rudi Voeller temporarily assumed the managerial role of the team, overseeing a 2-1 victory against France in a recent friendly in Dortmund. Nevertheless, the DFB are actively seeking a permanent replacement.
Liverpool manager Klopp had been rumoured as a potential candidate for the position. However, Klopp’s agent, Kosicke, dismissed these claims. While talking to Sportschau (as quoted by the Liverpool Echo), he said:
“Jurgen has a long-term contract with LFC and he is not available for the national coaching position.”
Klopp’s team has had a promising start to the current Premier League season, securing three wins and one draw, positioning them in third place in the standings.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager has been leading the Reds since 2015, and his most recent contract extension with the club was finalised in April of the previous year. This extension binds him to the Anfield club until 2026.
With such a long tenure to complete, the 56-year-old would have a plan in his pocket for his club, and it would be safe to say that executing those plans will be his top priority. It started with this summer’s transfer window, where he engineered a midfield rebuilding strategy.
After losing several experienced players, Klopp was quick to lock his targets and make a move until the deadline day. It’s highly unlikely for him to leave his unfinished work in between and grab another prestigious role.
No doubt, the chance to manage Germany’s national squad is an honour, but the Liverpool boss has never betrayed his own in search of fame and glory.
