“It’s not over”- Reliable journo reveals Liverpool are still in the fray for South American midfielder

Fabrizio Romano backs Liverpool to rekindle their pursuit of Andre Trindade

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool could land Brazilian midfielder Andre Trindade in the upcoming January transfer window.

The 22-year-old is enjoying a fine season with Brazilian giants Fluminense. He was on the Reds’ radar earlier this summer but were unable to reach an agreement with the Time de Guerreiros. Liverpool saw their efforts get nowhere but this has not seen them back down in their efforts for the player.

Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt has now left the door open for a January move. Bringing him in mid-season could give the Reds a shot in the arm heading into the business end of the season.

Speaking on the podcast, Romano revealed that the Merseysiders are firm fans of Andre and the deal is not dead in the water. The onus is now on the club to make an offer that Fluminense cannot refuse.

“It’s not over. It’s still something we have to keep an eye on because Liverpool really like Andre.”

He goes on to add that the Reds have good relations with Fluminense, which could aid them in a January push. Liverpool have seldom brought in players directly from the South American market, but Andre appears to be a player worth going all out for

The Reds have done a good job of rebuilding their midfield roster following the massive exodus in the summer. They brought in Alexis Mac Allister, Dominic Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo. The Japanese skipper, however, remains the lone specialist number six and it is a position that needs reinforcing.

Liverpool have shown in the past that they are not averse to paying what it takes for players they deem special. According to Romano, Andre appears to fit the criteria. It could prove to be an exciting addition should the Samba ace don the famous Red jersey.

Andre is 22 and has his best years ahead of him. However, he will take up a non-homegrown spot in the Reds’ roster. It should not prove to be an issue as they can let him take Adrian’s spot in the roster once the January window opens.
